For four days at the beginning of October, Des Moines hosted an event that made the city seem like New York.
Des Moines Fashion week featured amazing designers (both local and national), gorgeous venues and amazing food.
I was lucky enough to be apart of the week as a guest and trust me, it didn’t disappoint.
The first night was held at Mercedes Benz of Des Moines in their brand new showroom.
The space screamed street style, with a backdrop of the latest and greatest car lineup – which was showcased by the three designers of the night. I loved how different each of the designers were.
The designers this night were:
- GEOME – the most amazingly unique jewelry designer that is local to Des Moines. Seriously, the talent that this couple puts into their business is outstanding!
- MHDO – The charity that the entire week benefited, their collection displayed some of the pieces they have for sale at the thrift shop.
- Stevie Boi – a designer from NYC whose PINK collection was so fun!
The entire week I was lucky enough to get to wear GEOME’s jewelry and I had so much fun with all the pieces! If you are ever looking for a truly unique present, or you want to treat your self, look no further than GEOME!
The next night moved to Splash Seafood and it was incredible. By far one of my favorite nights for many reasons.
The show was paired with a four course meal created by award-winning Chef Dominic Iannarelli, opera vocals by Emily Solo all while seamlessly tying in the evening’s experience with top models and hand-selected evening wear designers.
The food was so phenomenal! Each course was absolutely perfect!

And the decor made the entire restaurant seem magical! It truly was a night of elegance and one that I won’t soon forget. The designers who gowns graces the runway were:
- Hannah Swanson
- Lauren Hansen
- AD Delgado Designs
On the third night, we saw another change of venue, this time to the historic gem World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. The venue itself was stunning and the night saw even more amazing designs!
And this entire day was amazing because I partnered up with a few friends and we were able to get our makeup done by Vanity and Glamour Cosmetics – if you haven’t checked them out yet, you have to do so!
They create their own makeup and let me tell you, it is amazing! I have been using their foundation for a few weeks now and the coverage is great but the feeling on my skin is weightless and oh-so good!
After getting pampered, we headed to the Skyline Suite at the new Hilton Downtown to get ready.
This room was so crazy with it’s views and amazing bathrooms (yes, multiple!) and it was the absolute perfect spot to get ready. It felt like we took a mini-vacation to another city because it simply didn’t feel like we were in Des Moines. This would be the perfect spot to check out for a stay-cation!
And to make the night even sweeter, we were all able to feel ultra glamorous in GEOME jewelry!
The designers showcased showed some amazing designs and it made for the perfect event!

- Crystal Brakhage
- Tyeesha Mari
Finally, for the grand finale event, all the designers from the entire week came together once more at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. There was an incredible turnout and the event was truly spectacular – it was the perfect ending to the perfect week!
