Feeling burnt out and ready for something more, Michelle quit her job and created “Visibility Vixen”. Visibility Vixen is dedicated to helping other entrepreneurial women achieve their goals and dreams. While dealing with multiple health issues, she decided not to let that limit her from happily living life. In fact, overcoming these struggles is considered one of Michelle’s greatest achievements.
Michelle talks about her daily rituals, the tipping point of her business and what every business woman can do to increase visibility.
When and why did you start your business? Give us the backdrop to your story!
I was so exhausted working as a stand in! I would work 12-14 hour days + receive little compensation for it, while being utterly exhausted. I knew there was a happier way to live.
How is running a successful business different than what you thought it would be?
It’s being in it for the long haul, lol! It’s not an instant thing. You hear these crazy ads like, “how I made 100,000 my first month of business”! Maybe that actually did happen for them, but that’s extremely rare. It was a full year until I started making money in my business, + it was of course the technical setup, but even more so the mindset work behind it!
I would describe myself as:
Unique
What is the biggest thing you struggle with as an entrepreneur? Either past of present.
I think belief. It gets shaky sometimes. That all of the work is worth it. That I will be successful. It’s a constant re-training to remember {now that I have the actual testimonials in my hands} that I am totally on the right journey + truly helping people!
Describe to me the most exciting minute of your entrepreneurial journey.
My first PayPal notification! I jumped up + down! I was having wine with girlfriends + POP — there it was! It was literally one of the best feelings I’ve ever had.
What was the tipping point for your business?
I spent months + months building my courses, funnels + opt ins. So the tipping point was when they were all finally set up so that people actually had places to go when they found me online! That’s when the sales starting popping up + my list started to grow!
What do you consider to be your single greatest achievement (personal or business)?
Life. I was diagnosed with multiple organ failure in my early 20’s + had chronic debilitating headaches. I was able to heal myself naturally + consider every single day I am up, mobile + healthy a HUGE achievement!
What do you do on a daily basis to grow as an entrepreneur?
I have my daily ritual, which is at my local coffee shop with my devotional, planner + motivational book. I need that every single day to keep my head straight as an entrepreneur!
Share some knowledge! What is one tip that everyone can use in your niche?
Visibility is about 80% mental, emotional, spiritual + about 20% physical {video, livestreaming, social media posting, publicity}. Don’t cheat the work!
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? (Yes, you can only pick one.)
ooooo I would have to say cookies + cream!!
Anything else you would like to share with me?
I think we can get lost in the time crunch + energy needed to step out into the online space with a business…especially if we’re still at a full-time job. Give yourself space, time + forgiveness. It’s ok that it’s not overnight. It’s ok to just get one thing done per week. The difference between you + the other 99% of aspiring entrepreneurs is one word: action. So keep going! You can absolutely do this.
