The holidays are my favorite time of year! We get together with friends and family to enjoy great food and wonderful company. During this season, I am always reminded how grateful I am for everything I have. And this year is even more special because we get to spend it with Leonie – her very first holiday season!
While this year’s holiday season might look a bit different than any other year, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it to the fullest extent. It just might be a bit more of an intimate holiday season, however, keep reading for a few ways that I will still be celebrating my favorite holiday traditions!
My favorite holiday traditions
Decorate for the Holidays
I absolutely love getting out all the decorations for the holidays! I always get so excited about it that sometimes I decorate way too early (according to Manuel.) I don’t think there is such a thing as decorating too early, haha! This year, I put up two trees, my entire collection of nutcrackers and Manuel’s Manger. Leonie loved getting to “help” by staring at all the sparkling lights and ornaments.
Gather around the table for a meal
Now, due to the pandemic, this might not be a big gathering. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be special. For me, I love getting to show German’s our American traditions, like Thanksgiving. However, since we weren’t able to invite too many people over for Thanksgiving, I had a brunch with a friend instead.
It was so fun to get to bake all the yummy goodies, prepare and set the table, and catch up with a great friend. I served Cameron’s Coffee White Chocolate Peppermint Blend so it even smelled and tasted like the holidays were here! If you haven’t tried their White Chocolate Peppermint blend yet, you have to give it a go! I love the cooling peppermint that mixes with the white chocolate to create the perfect holiday coffee!

I also served a lemon poppy seed tart, fruit tray, strawberry cheesecake chia pudding, fresh bread with cinnamon butter, alcohol free mimosas and chocolate chip scones. It was so delicious and it was such a fun way to start the day.
Create an advents calendar
Advents Calendars are a big thing in Germany so it was super fun to be able to make one for Manuel this year! I made the tags with my Cricut Joy and picked out all 24 gifts myself. They are a wide variety of different things that I selected including craft beer, books, magazines, Cameron’s Coffee Buttered Rum blend (his favorite), and a few small whiskey samples.
Leonie helped me wrap all of these gifts and I can’t wait for Manuel to get to open one each day during December!
Now, tell me below, what are some of your favorite holiday traditions each year? I want to wish all of you a safe and healthy holiday season!
